What size rope do I need?

Ropes are rated based on the weight of the vehicle doing the recovery, not the vehicle that's stuck. Taking your service truck or overland rig to the rescue? You need this 1 1/4" rope.

What length should I get?

The rope length just depends on the user, the terrain, and the vehicles using the ropes. We recommend a 20' if you're going to be in dense woods or rocky areas, where space is limited. And a 30' rope for wide open worksites and deserts.

What is the black velcro piece that came with the rope?

The chafe sleeve. It's 5 feet of polyurethane coated ballistic nylon with velcro on each side. It's a protective sleeve designed to slide up and down the rope as needed to protect the rope from abrasive obstacles.

What is the rope rated for?

The ropes have a 'Minimum Breaking Strength' (MBS). You then use a 'Factor of Safety'(FOS) to determine your 'Working Load Limit' (WLL). Your FOS is typically somewhere between 3 and 5, so either a 3:1, 4:1, or 5:1. You will find your working load limit by dividing the MBS by the FOS. Example:

      • 50,300 / 3 = 16,766
      • 50,300 / 4 = 12,575
      • 50,300 / 5 = 10,060

What is the proper way to store the rope?

Yankum Ropes are designed to handle a lot of tough situations, and taking good care of your rope when not in use will prolong the life of the rope. It is recommended to store your rope out of the elements and away from harsh chemicals.

How fast should I go when performing a recovery with a kinetic rope?

Start your recovery with a very slow pull, then move to kinetic pulls. Increase speed gradually until the stuck vehicle is free, but do not exceed 5 mph. If you've reached 5 mph and the stuck vehicle hasn't moved, rethink a different way to recover. Stay safe!

Best choice! Absolutely necessary for anything above basic stock bass.
Bonded to services well, completely removed panel reverberation in my tacoma. Also really made the doors so much quieter even when closing. Very happy with the result. Used only one set on my 01 tacoma 4 door. Installed inside doors on exterior skin panel, over interior door panel access holes (sealing the door to provide backpressure to door speakers (left drains open)), roof panel, and back wall of cab. Achieved about 70% coverage and am very happy. 2 8in SKAR SVR8 at 1oh on walmart power acustic 2500 (only rated to ~800rms at 2oh, forum showed testing at 1oh worked about 1kw) in 6th order with blow through into cab. With cab gain, im over 130db between ~30 and ~50hz. This was a necessary addition!

Looks good so far, will update once installed
Have not installed this yet, so this is only a first impression review. I bought it to use in the wheel well area on my truck, so I’ll update later once I actually get it on and see if it makes a real difference. So far it looks good out of the box and seems straightforward enough. One thing I’d recommend is making sure you have a sound deadening roller for install, because I would not try putting this on without one. Too early for me to say how well it works for road noise since it is not installed yet, but I wanted to post my initial thoughts for now and will update later.
