"You are a very, very clever little girl." -- Queen Victoria to Annie Oakley
Her life was the stuff of legend -- from humble Quaker origins in Darke County, Ohio, Annie Oakley (nee Phoebe Ann Moses) rose to the heights of renown as a world-famous entertainer and featured performer with Buffalo Bill's Wild West extravaganza. Her self-discipline, showmanship, and legendary gifts as a sharpshooter earned her the adulation of millions; yet to close friends she was always a generous, gentle woman. She excelled in a man's sport but never lost her feminine appeal.
This volume provides a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at the life and career of Annie Oakley -- her impoverished girlhood, long and devoted marriage to Frank Butler, early years with the Sells Brothers Circus, and especially seventeen years spent touring with Buffalo Bill (William F. Cody), playing to packed arenas in America and Europe.
More than 100 rare photographs, posters, handbills, and other memorabilia document Annie, Buffalo Bill, Johnnie Baker, and other members of the famous troupe; the show on tour in Europe; Annie's celebrated trick shots, famous visitors, etc. In a career that spanned more than 40 years (1882-1925), Annie Oakley accumulated a remarkable store of memorable experiences: command performances before the crowned heads of Europe; adoption by Sitting Bull (who named her "Little Sure Shot"); and an appearance before the first motion-picture camera, Edison's Kinetograph, in 1894. These and many other outstanding moments come to vivid life in Mrs. Sayer's fascinating and informative text.
Through the years, the life and legend of Annie Oakley have been immortalized on stage, film and TV, and in books. Yet few presentations offer as revealing and intimate a look at a genuine American folk heroine as this book. In addition, nostalgia buffs, show-business historians, and Americana enthusiasts will find it an informative account of life with one of the greatest entertainment spectacles of nineteenth-century America: Buffalo Bill's Wild West.

Be Very Cautious!
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Splinters easily if you have an aggressive chewer! Although very tasty, within hours of a dog (lab/shepherd mix) I care for excitedly indulging in it, I was picking pieces he easily could have choked on (or worse). The large end of the bone splintered/cracked quicker than other bones he’s had which makes it very dangerous. Value for money is iffy due to that. Bone is a good price but not when it endangers the health of an animal. I gave it 3 stars because it had no smell, dog enjoyed the flavor, but definitely be cautious with this bone!

Dog Loves It
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
My dog, who is a intense chewer, loves these. He has learned how to break them by dropping them from up high, but they still last quite awhile. When he gets thru the filling, we fill with peanut butter for a treat.

Durable construction, including squeakers!
Style: Snake
This is the absolute best toy I've found. My dog is a 40 lb staffie who loves to play tug and chew. I'm used to toys lasting one day to one week and this one lasted about four months of almost constant daily play. The squeakers finally collapsed, so I'm buying my second one. I wish they would embroider the name of their brand on the toy because I forgot what the brand name was and it was hard to find again. Thankfully, I combed through my purchase records and finally found it. This brand definitely is my go-to for durable toys from now on!

Very nice, LOUD toy
Style: Crocodile
My parents' dog had the shark version of this toy already, and I looked to see if there were any other versions of the same toy. I found this crocodile. This thing is hysterical when he plays with it. I think each squeaker makes a slightly different sound, so you can hear him switch from 1 part to another. This is not for you if you like quiet. It is very loud but our dog doesn't like toys that don't squeak. The shark has held up for along time, and the crocodile is doing well so far. He's pretty rough on his toys, but he hasn't torn these or broken the squeakers. The fabric is soft, and it's well sewn. There's no stuffing in the body or limbs, so small holes don't really matter. It's big enough for larger dogs (ours is 45lb). The price was very good for a large toy that's high quality.
