The original tribes included the Clatskanie, Tillamook and Siletz, Alsea, Siuslaw, Coos, Athabaskans, Takelma, Galice, Applegate, Shasta, Kalapuya, Klamath, Molalla, Chinook, Northern Paiute, Shoshone, Cayuse, Umatilla, Sahaptians, Cayuse, Nez Perce among others.
Other tribes moved through the area but these are known as the original inhabitants.
