Created around sterling silver, translucent enamel, and an American story of discovery, the David Oscarson William Clark Fountain Pen - Sapphire Blue brings the brand’s most celebrated techniques to a refined, modern silhouette. The sapphire hue reveals deep engine-turned patterns beneath the surface, catching light with a quiet, glasslike glow. It is a limited edition piece that balances artistry and purposeful function for writers and collectors who value enduring craft.

Craftsmanship & Design

David Oscarson builds each pen on a foundation of solid sterling silver, engine-turned in multiple guilloche patterns to create dimensionality and movement. Layers of translucent sapphire blue hot vitreous enamel are hand-applied and kiln-fired, then carefully polished to achieve remarkable depth and clarity. Crisp sterling details frame the enamel, while the overall profile feels substantial yet refined in hand. The result is a piece that rewards close study: color, pattern, and metal working together with uncommon harmony.

Writing Experience

An 18k gold nib anchors the experience with smooth, consistent flow and a natural touch on the page. Available in Fine, Medium, or Broad, it suits both precise note-taking and generous, expressive signatures. The international cartridge/converter system offers reliable filling and easy maintenance, supporting both bottled ink and standard cartridges. Balanced weight and confident threading complete a pen built to be used as well as admired.

Provenance

Since 2000, David Oscarson has pursued old-world techniques with contemporary discipline, producing limited editions that have become mainstays among serious writing instrument collectors. The atelier’s signature combination of engine-turned sterling silver and kiln-fired enamel reflects a commitment to time-intensive craft rarely seen in modern production. The William Clark design continues that legacy, honoring exploration through materials and method rather than ornament alone.

So-so...
Color: Blue+Orange
50lb German Shep mix chewed through the head within a couple days and pulled the squeeker out. Not horrible, but not as durable as they seem to imply.

The indestructible sharkie
High and low have I searched when quite by accident I just happened upon the indestructible sharkie. We are fast approaching the 24 hour mark and sharkie is still with us. He has thus far resisted the incredibly strong, outrageously aggressive and persistent chewing of my Bernese mountain dog. Most don’t make it 20 min, so a whole day?!? Miracle!!! Not in love with the incessant squeaking that has followed me, but then again… that’s because this is actually not simply a review but a love story between a dog and his shark toy. Where others have failed, this one has endured. My water fearing dog has an obsession with shark shaped toys so while it would be nice to see a different character, truth is… I’ll be buying more sharkies. A lot of sharkies. Yard sharkie. Work sharkie. Maybe not house sharkie… but you get the point.

Great for tough chewers
I have purchased this twice! My dog absolutely loves it! He is a pit-bull Shepard mix and an extremely tough chewer. The first toy lasted almost a year of him chewing on it daily
