Powerful Output with Fast Recycling

The Speedlite EL-5 delivers strong illumination for distant subjects and large groups, thanks to its GN60-rated flash output. Fast 0.1–1.2 second recycle times allow you to keep shooting without delay, while continuous bursts of up to approximately 85 full-power flashes are possible using a fully charged LP-EL battery under Canon testing conditions.

A wide power range from full output down to 1/1024 power offers exceptional flexibility, allowing precise control for subtle fill light or creative effects.
(Minimum flash output is 1/128 when using high-speed sync.)

Advanced Power and Battery Management

Powered by a rechargeable LP-EL lithium-ion battery, the Speedlite EL-5 delivers up to approximately 350 full-power flashes per charge under Canon testing conditions. An accurate battery level indicator keeps you informed, so you always know when it’s time to recharge or swap batteries.

An improved internal airflow design helps manage heat, supporting consistent performance during extended shooting sessions.

Seamless Camera Integration and Control

Canon’s Multi-Function Foot interface ensures reliable, fast communication between the flash and compatible cameras, unlocking increased functionality and direct control from the camera menu.

You can adjust settings using the Speedlite’s joystick, via the camera’s LCD Flash Direct Menu, or remotely using the Camera Connect App. Custom Flash Modes allow settings to be stored and linked to a compatible camera’s own custom shooting modes for faster setup.

Wireless Multi-Flash and Creative Lighting

With a built-in radio transmitter, the Speedlite EL-5 can control up to 15 Speedlites wirelessly at distances of up to 30 metres. A dual white LED modelling light with adjustable brightness helps visualise lighting before you shoot.

The flash head tilts up to 120° and rotates sideways, making bounce lighting simple and effective for softer, more natural-looking results.
